If you’re caught up with this week’s episode of Time Capsule, then you know that 1986 wasn’t a great year for The Silver Chain. However, it was — in my opinion — a fantastic year for music. I can’t be certain that these were the tunes Tammy played in her new IROC-Z, the one with the vanity plates that said “MINE,” but had I been old enough to drive a sports car, this would be my playlist. On cassette, of course.
Okay, New Obsession…
Listening to this playlist had me suddenly craving a New York Seltzer, so I of course went down a rabbit hole to learn about the beverage’s history.
How is it that I was so busy in sixth grade agonizing over my receding hairline that I missed out on the fabulosity that is Randy Miller, the co-founder of New York Seltzer?
In a March 1988 issue of USA Today, Randy is featured in an article titled Miller Rises to the Top with Fizz, Felines: “Who needs a marketing campaign when he company president is 23 and a millionaire, has an 80-acre Southern California compound where he breeds exotic cats such as tigers and cougars — and has jumped off a 10-story hotel for his own TV ads.”
And plenty of babes to boot, it appears…
How does this showman not have a residency in Las Vegas? I am hooked. But first, how can I get a raspberry New York Seltzer ASAP? XO, Paul
